Values inform our thoughts, words, and actions.
They are about the way we do things.
At Canopy Forest School our values are important to us because they inform everything we do and help us to grow and develop. They help us to create the future we want to experience as a small business and those of our learners.
As a small business Canopy Forest School is involved in making many decisions and we want each of these to reflect our values and beliefs. When we use our values to make decisions then our choices become more deliberate and focused upon what is important to us. Sharing these values with others also helps to build a deep sense of cohesion with all involved in Canopy Forest School as we are all working from the same page.
It took time to decide what our top key priorities should be as a Forest School and what our deep down essential core was. In the next couple of blog posts I would like to go through each of our values and explain their relevance and why they were chosen. I don’t want these explanations to be just dogmatic definitions, but they will be stories that will dive into what I have learnt from my own teaching and outdoor education experience.
